Chinese hot pot table setting ideas

To make the Chinese Hot Pot menu even a bit more fun, I like to add a bit of easy decoration to the table.  The items do not need to be expensive, just finding items that can be added to complement the theme.

Directions

1
Done

Use the (free) newspapers from a Japanese or Chinese store, you usually find them in the front of the store. I use one for each place setting and one or two to go under the fondue pot(s).

2
Done

You can use sushi maker mats on top of the papers to add texture or color.

3
Done

Take a plate - I like to use ones that are more geometric in shape - and place on top of the sushi maker mat.

4
Done

Place napkin on the the plate and take a single flower on top of each one.

5
Done

The fondue forks, fork, knife and soup spoon can be placed on either side of the plate. I like to use the Chinese soup spoon.

6
Done

Take soy sauce dishes - I place on left side of place setting. I like to use these for dipping sauces.

7
Done

For an extra decorative idea, purchase Chinese or Japanese candy packages (square blocks) as chopstick holders or a party favor, above the placemats.

8
Done

For place cards, I write everyone's name on in marker directly on the newspaper place mat.
