2 large ripe avocados

16 slices small brown bread, cut in 1/2" slices and toasted

juice of half a lemon

sea salt

olive oil

red chili flakes (optional)

cilantro leaves, chives, or lemon wheels

Set oven to broil. |

avocadoMash up the avocado with a fork into nice chunks, or completely smooth, depending on your preference. I prefer chunky. |

Add a bit of salt and squeeze of lemon juice and taste, adjust seasoning as needed. Set aside while making toasts. |

toastsPlace bread slices on a baking sheet and brush with olive oil on top side. |

Put baking sheet under broiler for 3-4 minutes. Make sure to watch the bread to avoid burning! |

Remove from oven, cool toast for a few minutes and then pile on the mashed avocado. |

Sprinkle with flaky salt and red chili flakes (if desired) and a bit of olive oil. |

Serve within one hour, the avocado will begin to turn brown if not eaten within a couple hours. |
